Background and history

Camilla Safety Ltd. has been in operation since 2006. We are an established provider of safety training, a domestic company, and we continue our work with ever-increasing enthusiasm. It all started when our CEO, Camilla Mäkinen, realized her passion for her work as a first aid instructor and saw tremendous potential in the people she was training.

"I initially trained alongside my own work. I quickly realized that I greatly enjoyed teaching first aid and received positive feedback on my courses. I decided to make this my life's work. I find my work extremely meaningful – I see tremendous potential in the people I teach. They are the ones who save lives in emergencies at home, at work, or during their leisure time."

- Camilla Mäkinen, first aid instructor and CEO of Camilla Safety Oy.

In the early years, Camilla ran her business as a sole proprietorship, and in 2008, the operation transitioned to a corporation when Camilla decided to pursue her life's work full-time. Today, Camilla Safety consists of a close-knit team of top experts in the field, who passionately share their knowledge in first aid, fire safety, and threat situation courses.

Trainers and expertise

The trainers at Camilla Safety Oy are experts in emergency care, fire safety, and threat situations. Each has a professional background in the subject they teach, whether it's first aid, fire safety, or managing threat situations. All our trainers teach their core expertise and can provide useful tips that they have learned in their own work.

In addition, our trainers have a pedagogical background, meaning we know how to teach about emergency situations in an interesting, memorable, and practical manner.

Our goal is to inspire and give participants concrete skills to prevent emergencies and to act correctly even in stressful situations.

"I am really proud of my team! Our team possesses vast expertise. Everyone has extensive experience and many of our trainers have multiple professional qualifications. We share our knowledge with each other, which deepens the value of our training."

– Camilla Mäkinen, Camilla Safety Oy

Mission and approach

Our mission is to inspire and provide genuine skills to prevent the occurrence of emergencies and to act in an emergency situation even under a stress reaction.

Our education is of high quality and based on new researched information. We actively follow what is being researched around the world and update our education to always match the current knowledge that has been scientifically studied. In first aid training, our education is based on the recommendations of ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) and ERC (European Resuscitation Council), which are based on researched information. You can trust that the content and implementation of our education is of the highest possible standard.

Pioneer in utilizing technology

Mediocrity is not enough for us. As pioneers, we also utilize technology in education. We are the first in our field to have created functional simulations for VR glasses for first aid, fire safety, and threat situation training. VR glasses are always included in our first aid courses, and with VR simulations, participants can safely practice observing, decision-making, and acting in emergency situations from their own chairs. Our simulation is filmed with real people, which makes the experience authentic. A VR simulation leaves a strong memory trace in the brain for a potential real-life emergency. The brain believes it has been in a similar situation before, which means a model of action has been stored, and operational reliability is better maintained.

We are constantly developing our training programs and operations. As early as 2018, we incorporated VR glasses into our trainings. They enable authentic experiences that prepare participants for real emergency situations.

– Camilla Mäkinen

With the advent of VR simulations, we built a subsidiary brand, the VirtuAid brand. In addition to our VR goggles being part of our safety courses, our VR goggles can also be rented out to workplaces as part of safety days or, for example, as a drawcard for trade shows.

Over the years, we have built numerous different simulations. Our VR simulations are scripted, filmed, and constructed by us. We have the expertise and wanted to do this as an in-house project, which allows for continuous development. The latest VR simulation is from the year 2025, so participants always get something new on each of our first aid courses.

We aim to create genuine experiences during education. In addition to VR goggles, we use resuscitation simulators, which analyze the depth, speed, and efficiency of compressions and breaths in real-time. This way, the participant gets a concrete feeling of proper first aid and learns to act confidently under pressure.

Resuscitation simulators look like ordinary resuscitation manikins, but their chests are designed to simulate the resistance of an average adult's chest. In addition, our simulators analyze in real-time and provide visual feedback on the depth of compressions, the speed of compressions, chest recoil between compressions, as well as the volume of breaths and hand-off time, which is how long the helper does not compress. The overall goal is to give the trainee the opportunity to learn resuscitation in a realistic situation and to understand and dare to press with enough force and technique to circulate blood in the person being helped.

Area of operation

Our offices are located in Kaarina (a neighboring municipality of Turku) and in Pori. However, we provide training nationwide. As part of our sustainability program, we strive to travel using public transportation and our company's all-electric van, which does not produce direct emissions.

Responsibility and domesticity

Camilla Safety Oy is a domestic, private operator that was awarded the Key Flag symbol in the spring of 2024. We pay all our taxes to Finland and responsibility is comprehensively important to us. We are committed to environmental responsibility; our company uses a fully electric van for transportation to trainings and we always primarily favor public transportation.

We are a pioneer in responsibility and its public reporting in the safety training industry. Our company was awarded the Carbon Footprint Calculated label in 2025. We are the first operator in the field to have created a VSME report. You can explore our sustainability report here.
